Mini spike and team love

Currently I am on a mini spike(aka project). It is a three day project that happens away from the campus and I am in North Bay, MD at North Bay Adventure. It is a camp/retreat where middle school kids come for a week and learn environmental studies and well as character building. It is amazing here and I would love to work here. They have a high ropes course, zip lines, this awesome swing thing, a gym, rock climbing walls and so much more for these kids to do that normally back at home they wouldn't be able to do. So basically for them its a vacation but they learn so much through character building and really learning that their actions do have consequences.
My team Moose 1 is here with Moose 4 and we are going to be doing clean up work and lots of painting. I signed myself up for painting because they wanted experienced painters and I do believe I am one lol. One of the good things is that they have wifi but the phone service is pretty crappy because we are in a secluded area. It will be interesting with my team on our first little project together and to see how things go. I will not mention names but there are some people on my team that I'm a little worried about. Other than that all is going well in the program and the more and more I get into it the more I'm considering to be a team leader for next year. I really believe that I could do it.
But for now our dinner is done.... cheeseburgers and baked beans oh yea I'm going to eat... "Getting Things Done"

Its been a while but I'm MOOSE 1

There has been so much going on since I have gotten to Perry Point and its just crazy hard to try and first of all have an internet connection and find time to be on it... So I'm sorry in advance if i can't write all the time. The first few days here were mostly about the rules and regulations of the program and what we can and can't do. In-processing was day 1 and went by really fast. I have three other roommates which all are awesome. Are room is pretty lucky in that we only have four people to a room and we have are own bathroom with a shower. There are some rooms with six to eight people per room and a lot of the rooms don't have a shower so they have to use the communal shower. Not a lot to do here in Perry Point and trying to find transportation to anywhere is really hard unless you want to pay for a cab, but they can be very expensive.
The campus is the VA medical center and federally operated. So there is a lot we can't do. It is very pretty here though, the campus sits on about 400 acres of land and is on the Susquehanna river that runs into the Chesapeake Bay. I don't have pics but hopefully soon they will be up. There are geese and deer EVERYWHERE!!!!

What else.... okay so I am in the MOOSE unit and my permanent team is Moose 1 which is pretty awesome because that was the team I was on during our temporary teams also called PODS. My team leader is pretty chill and seems overall pretty cool so I'm super  excited about that. My whole team minus a few of us went to DC last night for a project. I couldn't go because I just had my tb shot yesterday and it hasn't been read yet so there were a few of us who couldn't go. So i have the entire weekend to myself. Also a little fun fact if that's what you would call it is last Monday I had three teeth extracted (pulled) and I have been in some serious pain these last few days and the medicine they gave me is kickin my butt. Hopefully I'll be fine the rest of the year and no more problems or accidents. There have already been some people here that have broken their arms and on guy broke his foot. Its only been two weeks of training. Next week we are going on a mini spike about 3 days but I can't remember where lol. Overall I feel pretty good about the people on my team and hope there isn't any problems.
Already I'm thinking about my Life after Americorps and my options so far are applying to be a Team Leader for next year. Its just a thought and an idea not really set in stone but who knows what could happen. Our Induction into the program is March 9th then we leave for our first spike the day after. We don't know where we are going yet..... I'm sorry if im all over the place I'm typing it all down as I remember things so it will probably be jumbled.
As far as trainings go i am officially certified in CRP,First Aid and AED. also a Certified American Red Cross member and Van driver.
Well that's about it for now hope to be able to put up pics on here and my facebook soon but until then...... "Getting Things Done" for America

6 days!!!

This week had been flying by and the closer I get to leaving the more excited I get and the less nervous I get. Things are stressful here at home and I just can't wait to start this adventure and figure out what I want out of life.. I'm really excited to meet my team and start "getting things done" for this country... I hope to be able to visit DC and maybe even NYC in my travels.... Yes I live in NY and have never been to NYC... sad I know lol.... There is so much I want to see and do when I'm gone I hope to start checking things off my list.... On the other hand packing is proving to be a challenge... I over pack for everything so trying to plan and pack 10 months worth of clothes is difficult. This is my second time around you'd think it would be easier and its not. 6 days its crazy how fast time has flown by. I was accepted into the program in September and now its already February...  well hoping to post when I get there!!
